They will have to eat dirt
The next person who refers to yours truly as “an unemployed problogger” (which is an oxymoron in itself, it should be noted) is going to have to eat dirt. Especially with this post which talks about successful bloggers who have earned five figure incomes from the internet. Although I would certainly beg to differ with the NST about Alang (yes, I know who he is…he inspired me to do this and this) being a “problogger”, as a more correct definition for him would be “web directory owner”.
I am flattered that Hong Kiat had made mention of my name but I don’t think that I should be listed. After all, there are more successful people than me out there. Me, I’m just your average internet activist critically analysing religions, who only quite recently discovered the joy of earning from your passion. When I first took up blogging, I never intended to make money out of it. Yet here I am today, making some money out of paid blogging and various advertising services. Not only is the money enough to pay for the support of my Muslim internet activism for a long time (and I mean a very long time), it will also insha’allah be enough for me to support a family.
Hopefully I am able to continue doing this for a long time until the time comes when I have to decide on a new direction.
